Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh rendahnya tingkat pemahaman konsep matematis siswa, serta kurangnya keterlibatan aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan metode joyful learning dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII di SMPN 3 Palopo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pretest - Posttest Design. Penentuan perlakuan dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis, angket respon siswa, lembar observasi aktivitas dan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. Hasil penelitian adalah: (1) Kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Palopo sebelum diterapkan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan metode joyful learning berada pada kategori sangat rendah; (2) Kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Palopo setelah diterapkan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan metode joyful learning berada pada kategori tinggi; (3) Nilai rata-rata respon siswa setelah proses pembelajaran menggunakan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan metode joyful learning pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Palopo berada pada kategori cenderung positif; (4) Nilai rata-rata keterlaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan metode joyful learning pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Palopo berada pada kategori sangat baik; (5) Nilai rata-rata aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran menggunakan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan metode joyful learning pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Palopo berada pada kategori baik; (6) Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Palopo setelah diajar menggunakan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan metode joyful learning.
