Abstract
Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penalaran visual siswa dalam memecahkan masalah luas bangun datar. Subjek penelitian adalah 3 orang siswa kelas VII C Madrasah Tsanawiyah Batusitanduk. Tiga subjek dalam penelitian yang dipilih berdasarkan pemberian tes penalaran visual disertai think aloud dan wawancara. Pendekatan kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Adapun instrument pendukungnya yaitu; tes penalaran visual dan pedoman wawancara. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu dengan mengumpulkan data, direduksi, kemudian penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) kemampuan penalaran siswa pada indikator investigatting, ditunjukkan dengan siswa dapat langsung mengerjakan soal yang diberikan karena dapat dengan mudah menggali data dari informasi visual yang terdapat pada soal ; (2) Kemampuan penalaran visual siswa pada indikator interpreting, ditunjukkan dengan siswa dapat menemukan hubungan antar data berdasarkan informasi visual yang terdapat pada soal serta menjelaskan ide-ide yang dituliskannya ; (3) Kemampuan penalaran visual siswa pada indikator appliying, siswa dapat menganalisa dengan baik informasi visual yang diberikan dengan melakukan perhitungan terhadap nilai-nilai yang diperoleh.
