Abstract

Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui letak, jenis, dan faktor kesulitan yang dialami siswa MTs An-Nizhamiyyah Cileungsi dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa gender perempuan dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika di MTs An-Nizhamiyyah Cileungsi tergolong tinggi, sedangkan siswa gender laki-laki dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika tergolong sedang. Berdasarkan hasil pengerjaan soal siswa dengan kategori tinggi dapat mecapai 3 indikator kesulitan belajar yaitu mengemukkan konsep, menerapkan prinsip, menyelesaikan masalah variabel dengan menuliskan jawaban secara lengkap dan tepat. Siswa dengan kategori sedang dapat memenuhi 2 indikator kesulitan belajar yaitu mengemukakan konsep dan menerapkan prinsip dengan menuliskan jawaban dengan benar namun tidak lengkap dan terdapat beberapa yang keliru. Cara mengatasi faktor-faktor kesulitan dalam soal ceritaa matematika adalah memberikan intensitas latihan, menguatkan kembali konsep peluang pada siswa laki-laki dan meningkatkan komunikasi matematis siswa.
