Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik register kemiliteran dalam bentuk kata, frasa, kalimat yang mempunyai ciri khas penggunaan bahasa yang singkat, padat, jelas dan tegas. Pada penelitian ini terdapat karakteristik bahasa militer berupa kosakata menggunakan istilah militer dan medis seperti kosakata dalam bentuk jabatan Padokgi (perwira dokter gigi), Padokzi (perwira dokter gizi), frasa, akronim, singkatan dan kalimat. Dalam komunitas tertentu khususnya militer mempunyai variasi bahasa yang unik dan tidak ditemukan pada komunitas lainnya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi komunikasi realis untuk dapat mengetahui bagaimana pola komunikasi dalam sebuah kelompok masyarakat atau komunitas pada kejadian dan fenomena yang nyata. Data yang dihasilkan berupa deskripsi kata, frasa dan kalimat serta jawaban yang diberikan partisipan dalam kegiatan wawancara dan catatan di lapangan. Sumber data dari observasi, wawancara dengan anggota militer 15 orang dari berbagai hierarki kepangkatan dari tamtama 6 orang, dari pangkat bintara 4 orang, dan dari pangkat perwira 5 orang, dokumen resmi militer, buku saku militer, jurnal artikel militer, majalah militer, website militer dan dokumentasi serta foto kegiatan observasi dan wawancara. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi partisipan, observasi tersamar, wawancara, dokumen terkait militer dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitan terdapat karakteristik bahasa militer berupa kosakata yang meliputi kata tempat, kata benda, kata kerja, kata dalam bentuk struktur jabatan, akronim, singkatan dan intonasi suara yang tegas.
