ANALISIS MISKONSEPSI SISWA PADA MATERI EKSPONEN MENGGUNAKAN TES DIAGNOSTIK THREE-TIER DI KELAS X SMA NEGERI 3 SAMARINDA

Abstract
Berdasarkan kajian awal di kelas X-I SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda ditemukan siswa mengalami kendala pada materi eksponen di antaranya siswa keliru dalam menentukan basis dan pangkat, keliru dalam menerapkan sifat-sifat bilangan berpangkat, serta keliru dalam memaknai tanda negatif pada bilangan berpangkat. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk: (1) Untuk mengetahui apakah siswa mengalami miskonsepsi pada materi eksponen menggunakan tes diagnostik three-tier, dan (2) Untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik jawaban siswa yang teridentifikasi mengalami miskonsepsi dominan pada materi eksponen menggunakan tes diagnostik three-tier. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 25 siswa kelas X-I SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah menggunakan tes diagnostik three-tier, wawancara, sera dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar soal tes diagnostik three-tier dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Terdapat miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada materi eksponen menggunakan tes diagnostik three -tier yang ditandai dengan munculnya miskonsepsi false positif M (FP) sebanyak 8 kemunculan pada 6 siswa, miskonsepsi false negatif M (FN) sebanyak 8 kemunculan pada 8 siswa serta miskonsepsi murni (M) sebanyak 36 kemunculan pada 17 siswa. Miskonsepsi ini cenderung terjadi pada konsep-konsep tertentu seperti pada konsep eksponen negatif, pangkat dari suatu hasil bagi, serta eksponen rasional, (2) Karakteristik jawaban siswa yang teridentifikasi mengalami miskonsepsi dominan pada materi eksponen menggunakan tes diagnostik three-tier ditandai oleh kecenderungan mengingat contoh soal, menyesuaikan jawaban dengan pilihan yang tersedia, kurangnya pemahaman konsep terhadap konsep dasar pangkat, serta adanya keyakinan terhadap jawaban yang tidak sesuai dengan konsep yang benar
