ANALISIS KESULITAN BELAJAR SISWA PADA PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA DI KELAS IX SMP NEGERI 3 PADANG

Abstract
Pembelajaran matematika masih menjadi permasalahan yang dialami siswa di sekolah, banyak siswa terutama mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep, menerapkan prinsip dan menyelesaikan masalah verbal. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kesulitan belajar siswa di kelas IX SMP Negeri 3 Padang pada pembelajaran matematika berdasarkan indikator kesulitan belajar menurut teori Cooney. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek sebanyak 30 siswa kelas IX.2 yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes uraian dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan tiga indikator kesulitan belajar yaitu, memahami konsep, menerapkan prinsip dan menyelesaikan masalah verbal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan pada ketiga indikator tersebut. Sebanyak 7 siswa berada pada kategori kemampuan tinggi mengalami kesulitan belajar dominan terletak pada indikator penyelesaian masalah verbal, 11 siswa kategori sedang terdapat pada indikator penerapan prinsip dan 12 siswa kategori rendah terdapat kesulitan pada indikator pemahaman konsep. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan belajar matematika siswa tidak hanya disebabkan oleh kemampuan berhitung yang rendah, tetapi juga oleh lemahnya pemahaman konsep dan ketidaktepatan dalam menerapkan prinsip matematika. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pembelajaran yang lebih menekankan pada pemahaman konsep, latihan penerapan prinsip, serta kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah verbal.
