Urgensi penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana media visual flash card efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan memahami teks narasi dan deskriptif siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar sebagai upaya penguatan literasi sejak dini. Pemahaman teks naratif dan deskriptif merupakan keterampilan literasi fundamental yang krusial bagi perkembangan akademik siswa sekolah dasar, namun banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan akibat keterbatasan media pembelajaran yang menarik dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas media visual flash card dalam meningkatkan kemampuan memahami teks naratif dan deskriptif siswa kelas IV SD, sekaligus memberikan dasar empiris bagi implementasi strategi pembelajaran berbasis media visual. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen kuasi pre-test post-test control group, melibatkan 50 siswa yang dibagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis pre-test dan post-test, didukung oleh observasi partisipatif selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen yang menggunakan flash card mengalami peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan memahami kedua jenis teks dibandingkan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan metode konvensional. Kelompok eksperimen memperoleh gain rata-rata 23,4 poin untuk teks naratif dan 24,4 poin untuk teks deskriptif, jauh melampaui kelompok kontrol (masing-masing 10,5 dan 11,4 poin). Uji independent sample t-test menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik pada skor post-test, baik untuk teks naratif (t = 6,78; p < 0,001) maupun teks deskriptif (t = 5,92; p < 0,001). Temuan ini mendukung prinsip pembelajaran multimedia, yang menekankan pemrosesan kognitif melalui saluran visual dan verbal, serta menunjukkan bahwa media visual sederhana dapat memperkuat pemahaman dan retensi informasi siswa.
