Analisis Pemahaman Siswa SMP terhadap Materi Perbandingan Senilai melalui Penggunaan Media Roller Coaster Mini

Matematika sering kali dipersepsikan sebagai mata pelajaran yang abstrak dan sulit oleh siswa, terutama dalam memahami perbandingan senilai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemahaman siswa kelas VII di SMP Kartika XX-1 terhadap konsep perbandingan senilai melalui penggunaan mini roller coaster sebagai media pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman langsung. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif yang melibatkan 16 siswa yang dibagi ke dalam empat kelompok. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar kerja, observasi, dan refleksi tertulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa mampu mengaitkan hubungan antara jarak, waktu, dan kecepatan dalam konteks perbandingan senilai. Setiap kelompok menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman konseptual yang berbeda, di mana beberapa kelompok mampu membuat interpretasi matematis yang tepat, sementara yang lain masih memerlukan bimbingan. Media mini roller coaster memberikan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan dan menarik, serta membantu menjembatani konsep matematika yang abstrak dengan fenomena nyata yang dapat diamati. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan alat bantu pembelajaran konkret dapat secara efektif mendukung pemahaman konseptual dalam matematika jika disertai dengan scaffolding yang tepat. Penelitian ini juga berkontribusi pada pengembangan kajian pendidikan matematika kontekstual serta menekankan pentingnya eksplorasi lebih lanjut terhadap pembelajaran berbasis media untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan pemahaman siswa.
