Etnomatematika pada Menhir Kalimbuang Bori: Geometri dan Simetri dalam Warisan Budaya Toraja

Pembelajaran matematika di sekolah sering dianggap abstrak dan jauh dari konteks kehidupan siswa, sehingga banyak konsep—terutama pada materi geometri dan simetri—sulit dipahami. Kondisi ini mendorong perlunya pendekatan yang dapat mengaitkan konsep matematika dengan pengalaman budaya yang dekat dengan siswa. Menhir Kalimbuang Bori sebagai warisan budaya Toraja menawarkan konteks nyata yang kaya akan pola, bentuk, dan struktur geometris yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif etnografi untuk mendeskripsikan unsur-unsur kebudayaan serta fungsi simbolik menhir dalam konteks upacara pemakaman masyarakat Toraja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa menhir tidak hanya menjadi penanda upacara, tetapi juga mencerminkan status sosial, legitimasi keluarga, dan hubungan spiritual antara leluhur dan komunitas. Proses pendirian menhir yang penuh ritual mengungkap nilai-nilai sosial dan spiritual yang melekat pada identitas budaya Toraja. Dengan mengintegrasikan konteks budaya tersebut, pembelajaran matematika dapat disajikan secara lebih bermakna, konkret, dan relevan bagi siswa. Sebagai rekomendasi, penelitian ini mendorong pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis etnomatematika yang memanfaatkan menhir Kalimbuang Bori sebagai sumber belajar dalam materi geometri dan simetri. Selain itu, diperlukan kerja sama antara guru, budayawan, dan pemangku kebijakan untuk memastikan penerapan pembelajaran berbasis budaya dapat dilakukan secara berkelanjutan dan mendukung pelestarian warisan budaya Toraja.
