Kemampuan pemecahan masalah sangat penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari karena memungkinkan seseorang untuk menghadapi tantangan secara logis dan efektif, dalam konteks pendidikan, khususnya matematika, kemampuan ini diasah melalui latihan berpikir kritis, analitis, dan sistematis dalam menyelesaikan berbagai persoalan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara sistematis literatur mengenai kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dalam soal-soal Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) yang telah diterbitkan dalam lima tahun terakhir. Permasalahan utama yang muncul adalah rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa ketika menghadapi soal-soal HOTS. Penelitian dilakukan melalui metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi, strategi pembelajaran yang efektif, dan rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan HOTS siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dipengaruhi oleh aspek kognitif dan non-kognitif, termasuk pemahaman konsep matematika dasar, motivasi, kepercayaan diri, dan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Pembelajaran berbasis inovasi, seperti Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBL) dan pembelajaran kontekstual, terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa menghadapi soal HOTS. Selain itu, pengembangan kecerdasan emosional dan motivasi internal juga memainkan peran penting. Pendekatan holistik yang mencakup penguatan pemahaman konsep, variasi metode pembelajaran, serta dukungan emosional diperlukan untuk membantu siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi yang bermanfaat dalam akademik dan kehidupan nyata.
