Abstract

The ecosystem-based agricultural approach has become a key strategy in achieving sustainable agriculture in Indonesia. Studies indicate that this method can enhance productivity, efficiency, and farmers' well-being while maintaining environmental balance. However, its implementation faces challenges, such as a lack of integrated policies, limited incentives, and low adoption of ecosystem-based technologies. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of ecosystem-based agricultural policies, identify supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation, and formulate strategic recommendations to strengthen the revitalization of the agricultural sector in Indonesia. This study is conducted through an analysis of various literature sources, including scientific journals, academic articles, and research reports. The data is analyzed descriptively using a triangulation approach to enhance the validity of the findings. The results indicate that integrating ecological systems with modern agricultural technologies, such as AI-based smart irrigation and agroforestry, has great potential to support sustainable agriculture. However, challenges remain, particularly in cross-sectoral coordination and the limited economic incentives for farmers. Therefore, broader access to technology, green economic incentives, capacity-building programs for farmers, and the integration of ecosystem-based agricultural policies into national development are essential to support food security and environmental sustainability.
