Pengaruh Jarak Tanam pada Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Tanaman Talas (Colocasia esculenta L.)
The Effect of Plant Spacing on the Growth and Production of Taro Plants (Colocasia esculenta L.)
Abstract
Talas termasuk dalam jenis umbi-umbian yang merupakan salah satu sumber pangan yang penting karena memiliki sumber gizi yaitu karbohidrat, protein, lemak. Selain itu talas juga mengandung mineral dan vitamin. Produksi tanaman talas di Provinsi Gorontalo sangat rendah, hal ini disebabkan karena belum banyaknya yang melakukan penanaman talas atau hanya tumbuh liar. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan dengan mengatur jarak tanam pada budidaya tanaman talas. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Saripi, Kecamatan Paguyaman, Kabupaten Boalemo, Provinsi Gorontalo yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai Agustus 2023. Penelitian ini berbentuk Rancangan Acak Kelompok yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan yaitu J0 : Jarak Tanam Petani 75 x 75 cm (Kontrol); J1 : jarak Tanam 30 x 30 cm; J2 : Jarak Tanam 40 x 40 cm; J3 : Jarak Tanam 50 x 50 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jarak tanam memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata pada tinggi tanaman dan bobot umbi. Perlakuan J3 dengan jarak tanam 75 cm x 75 cm merupakan perlakuan yang terbaik dibandingkan kontrol dan perlakuan lainnya. Rata-rata tinggi tanaman talas dengan perlakuan J3 yaitu 81.30 cm pada 8 MST sedangkan bobot umbi talas dengan perlakuan J3 sebesar 2.80 gram.
Taro is a type of tuber which is an important food source because it has a source of nutrition, namely carbohydrates, protein and fat. Apart from that, taro also contains minerals and vitamins. Taro plant production in Gorontalo Province is very low, this is because not many people are planting taro or it just grows wild. One way that can be done is by adjusting the spacing when cultivating taro plants. This research was carried out in Saripi Village, Paguyaman District, Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo Province, which was carried out from May to August 2023. This research took the form of a Randomized Block Design consisting of four treatments, namely J0: Farmer Planting Distance 75 x 75 cm (Control); J1: Planting distance 30 x 30 cm; J2: Planting distance 40 x 40 cm; J3: Planting distance 50 x 50 cm. The results showed that planting distance had a significantly different effect on plant height and tuber weight. The J3 treatment with a planting distance of 75 cm x 75 cm was the best treatment compared to the control and other treatments. The average height of taro plants with the J3 treatment was 81.30 cm at 8 WAP, while the weight of taro tubers with the J3 treatment was 2.80 grams.
