Abstract
Studi ini meneliti penggunaan kata verba bivalen dalam novel Le Petit Prince karya Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Kata kerja bivalen tidak hanya menunjukkan hubungan antara aspek semantik dan sintaksis, tetapi juga memberikan teori yang dapat digunakan untuk menganalisis struktur kalimat dalam karya sastra. Tujuan studi ini adalah untuk memahami secara komprehensif konsep dan realisasi kata kerja bivalen dalam karya sastra klasik Prancis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik dokumentasi untuk pengumpulan data dan analisis distribusional dipadukan dengan Baumdiagramm untuk memetakan struktur sintaksis dan peran aktan. Analisis ini mengidentifikasi 29 data kalimat yang mengandung kata kerja bivalen dengan 2 aktan inti, yaitu subjek dan objek yang muncul dalam bentuk sintaksis berupa complément d’objet direct (COD) dan sebagai complément d’agent. Analisis ini juga memperhatikan keberadaan circonstants yang bersifat opsional dan tidak mengubah status bivalensi verba. Data yang diperoleh dari analisis terbatas karena sebagian besar isi novel berupa ujaran dan tidak memenuhi persyaratan valensi kata kerja bivalen. Studi ini menyoroti pentingnya valensi kata kerja bivalen dalam menciptakan makna naratif dan memberikan kontribusi yang bermanfaat bagi pengajaran bahasa Prancis. Dengan demikian, penelitian lebih lanjut dapat memperluas kajian pada jenis valensi verba lainnya untuk memberikan representasi komprehensif dari berbagai pola sintaksis dan semantis dalam bahasa Prancis.
