Penelitian ini menganalisis representasi feminisme liberal dalam anime Chi. Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite menggunakan pendekatan semiotik John Fiske dan teori feminisme liberal. Fokus penelitian terletak pada karakter Jolenta, seorang perempuan yang berjuang melawan diskriminasi dan struktur patriarki di abad ke-15. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi tiga level analisis semiotik, yaitu realitas, representasi, dan ideologi, untuk mengungkap bagaimana anime ini merepresentasikan nilai-nilai feminisme liberal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada level realitas, Jolenta menghadapi diskriminasi gender yang mencerminkan stigma sosial terhadap perempuan, namun ia tetap gigih memperjuangkan pendidikan setara dengan laki-laki. Pada level representasi, penggunaan teknik sinematik seperti close-up menyoroti emosi dan tekad Jolenta dalam menghadapi ketidakadilan. Sedangkan pada level ideologi, anime ini menegaskan pentingnya kesetaraan gender, kebebasan, dan kemandirian sebagai inti dari feminisme liberal. Jolenta digambarkan sebagai figur subversif yang melawan norma-norma patriarki, memberikan inspirasi baik kepada karakter lain dalam cerita maupun kepada pemirsanya. Kesimpulannya, anime ini berhasil menjadi media yang efektif dalam menyampaikan ideologi feminisme liberal. Representasi Jolenta tidak hanya mengkritik struktur sosial patriarkal, tetapi juga menawarkan narasi alternatif yang mendorong perubahan sosial menuju kesetaraan gender. Penelitian ini menunjukkan relevansi anime sebagai media budaya populer dalam mendukung gerakan feminisme.
