UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN PETAI CINA (Laucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit ) TERHADAP BAKTERI Staphylococcus epidermidis DAN Salmonella typhi

Di Indonesia penyakit infeksi masih menjadi masalah serius sampai saat ini dan pentingnya titingkatkan sumber obat antibakteri lain dari bahan alam, salah satunya yaitu Daun Petai Cina (Laucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit ). Senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terkandung pada daun petai cina diketahui dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terdapat pada daun petai cina dan mengetahui diameter daya hambat ekstrak etanol daun petai cina terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Salmonella typhi. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu eksperimental yang dilakukan dilaboratorium dengan metode ekstraksi secara maserasi menggunakan pelarut 96% dan uji antibakteri menggunakan metode cakram dengan variasi konsentrasi 100%, 50%, 25%, dan 10% serta antibiotik tetrasiklin sebagai kontrol positif dan larutan DMSO sebagai kontrol negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan ekstrak etanol daun petai cina mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder flavonoid, fenolik, saponin, tannin dan steroid. Hasil dari pengujian aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun petai cina menunjukan adanya zona hambat terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis dengan rata-rata diameter zona hambat terbesar pada konsentrasi 100% sebesar 10,21 mm dengan kategori kuat dan pada bakteri Salmonella typhi tidak adanya zona hambat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun petai cina memiliki kemampuan dalam menghambat pertumuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis pada konsentrasi 100% sebesar 10,21 mm, konsentrasi 50% sebesar 8,88 mm, konsentrasi 25% sebesar 7,26 mm, dan konsentrasi 10% sebesar 6,93 mm.
