Dilingkungan Kampus institut teknologi sawit Indonesia Medan memiliki kebun kelapa sawit yang menjadi tempat pembelajaran bagi mahasiswanya untuk belajar langsung dilapangan, kebun praktek lapangan ini memiliki luas 6.54 Ha. Dikebun yang homogen kelapa sawit ini terciptalah ekosistem baru sehingga hiduplah berbagai jenis organisme yang beranekaragam termasuk jamur, jamur yang berperan penting bagi ekosistem sebagai dekomposer biomassa kelapa sawit tumbuh dengan baik disini. Banyak jamur yang dapat jumpai terutama jamur makroskopis. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Tehnik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan metode jelajah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan di kebun Kelapa Sawit ITSI Medan, jenis jamur yang diperoleh berjumlah 16 jenis dalam 2 kelas, 5 ordo, 12 famili, 14 genus.
